Brokerage vs. Team: What Most Agents Get Wrong

If you’re an agent, few decisions shape your career more than where you hang your license, and most people make it without really understanding what they’re choosing between. The question I hear constantly is some version of “what’s the difference between just joining a brokerage and being on a team like yours?” It’s a fair question, and the honest answer is bigger than most agents expect. I’ve been on both sides, so let me walk you through what separates the two.

At most brokerages, you are essentially self-employed with a logo. You hang your license, you might get a basic tech package, and from there you’re on your own. There’s rarely consistent training, real coaching, or anyone making sure you do the daily work that builds a business. You get a login and a “good luck.” I lived that version for years, paying for a dozen fragmented systems, stitching them together myself, and trying to figure it all out alone. It’s exhausting, and it’s quietly how a lot of genuinely talented agents end up going broke. Not because they weren’t good, but because nobody was in their corner.

The first thing we do when you come on is put you through a structured launch program, twelve weeks for a brand-new licensee and eight for someone experienced. What I love about it is that it doesn’t just teach you; it keeps you consistent, doing the repetitive daily activities that most agents avoid for their entire careers. I’ve built my whole life on a simple idea: work works. When you do the activities day after day, with guidance and someone holding you accountable, traction stops being luck and starts being math.

Two models mean the team grows with you, not around you. The last thing agents worry about is outgrowing a team once they hit their stride, so we built for that on purpose. We run two paths, a leverage model and an opportunity model, depending on who you are and what you’re chasing.
